Three Major Myths About Chiropractic

There are three common misunderstandings about Chiropractic.

1.      Chiropractic is dangerous.

If Chiropractic is so dangerous, then why is malpractice insurance for them much lower than a Medical Doctor?  Chiropractors malpractice is anywhere from $850-$1,200/ year . A Medical Doctor’s malpractice for the same coverage for a year is anywhere between $15,000/$250,000 depending on their specialty. Last time I checked, insurance companies are not in the business of losing money, so the discrepancy between the two professions means that going to a Medical Doctor carries a much higher risk. To put this  into perspective, the cost of malpractice for a Chiropractor is a little more than their general liability. This means you are more likely hurting yourself tripping on the Chiropractor’s office’s carpet then by getting adjusted by him.

2.      Chiropractors are less educated than Medical Doctors.

3.      Once you go to a Chiropractor you always have to go to a Chiropractor.

Most people think that once they go to a chiropractor and the pain or symptom is gone then there is no reason to go again. Chiropractors are only interested in correcting subluxations. Subluxations are when the vertebras move out of alignment causing a slight pressure on the nerve interfering with the communication between brain and all the cells, tissues, and organs in the body. With a subluxation your body won’t be able to function at its optimum. Subluxations can be caused by physical, chemical, and emotional traumas. For most people, I know this happens often in one person’s life on a daily basis. This is the main reason you should be checked by your chiropractor on a regular basis, so your body can be at its optimum function.

For example when you go to a dentist and you don’t have any cavities, you don’t stop going the rest of your life. Another example is you go to the gym to work out once, you don’t stop going because you feel that you’re in good enough shape.
